Summer 2007

LUXURY TRAVEL, NOW AND IN THE PAST
In the past, travelling was like an adventure. It was also a privilege for the happy few. So no wonder that travellers were so impeccably dressed in the good old days. Anyone who could afford to travel far afield, did it in style. Dressed in an elegant outfit and equipped with suitcases which were a pleasure to hold.
Is this pure nostalgia for a long forgotten past? Not so for Scabal. Today this luxury international clothing brand ensures that men are still dressed just as stylishly for their business trip. The Spring/Summer 2007 campaign is centred around the theme of “Luxury Travel” and perfectly illustrates this feeling. A man in cream-coloured trousers and striped double-breasted jacket is leaning against his English vintage car. He is waiting. The spring clouds loom threatening in the sky. He is not worried in the slightest. He has his mind set on adventure. His suitcases match the fabric of his jacket. Well, if you love luxury, there can be no compromise. The message for Summer 2007 is clear: more is definitely better.
The outline: casual but close-fitting
Elegant and stylish are the key words for this coming summer. The cut remains close-fitting, and the jackets are becoming shorter. As far as the closures are concerned, we can see two definite trends. On the one hand, we have the two button jackets with low lapels, and on the other hand, we see the return of the double breasted suits.
The inside of the jackets have a very summery look indeed, and without any shoulder pads or lining they project a nonchalant style. Seams along the shoulders and elbows, and fancy stitching at the front are again proof of the attention to detail which is so typical of bespoke tailoring.
The trousers remain low-waisted, and the cut is narrow and of elegant appearance. The straight trousers make the body look taller. They feature a crisply ironed crease and the trouser legs are narrower at the ankles in comparison to previous seasons. This is the ideal combination within the Scabal “Luxury Travel” theme.
Light and airy linen for the summer
When a businessman wears linen, even the hottest summer day becomes bearable. Scabal has incorporated a number of linen blends into this summer range. The latter includes cotton and linen blends to project a more casual image, whereas the wool and linen blends ensure a dressed-up look. The silk blends purvey a discrete sheen within the “Nobility” theme.
The colours: subtle and light
For the business outfits the colours are focused around mid-grey, beige and white; colours reminiscent of a pebble beach. Meticulously crisp white shirts are also an absolute must. The more casual look is dominated by brown, beige, orange, and nuances of green, ranging from olive green to bamboo green for the suits, and a bright orange, light blue, and dazzling white for the shirts and ties.
Blue will feature as an important colour next summer and Scabal will also be combining a formal blue with mauvy accents for a more modern touch.
Made-to-measure: Like suit, like man
A suit can be as unique as the man wearing it. “Made-to-Measure” by Scabal offers the customer the opportunity to select his own unique personal made suit. The choice first starts with the fabrics. Scabal offers the consumer a selection of more than 5,000 fabrics. The customer himself selects his own design, can choose his own buttons, the colour of the thread with which the buttons are sewn on and the lapel buttonhole in a colour of his choice. What’s more, he can even have his own initials engraved into the buttons. For the lining, he can also choose from a plethora of shades, and it goes without saying that his initials will be embroidered into the lining of his suit.
The contrasting undercollar can also be in a colour of his choice. Yet again a golden opportunity to give this timeless suit a subtle flair and extravagance.
The new V-slit-option at the back of the waist belt also ensures that the suit exudes a refined and discrete tailored look.
The customer does not have to wait long for his Scabal made-to-measure suit. Just over 3 weeks will have passed between the measuring and the final delivery of the suit.
